U7’s York Cubs ‘v’ Tadcaster Riverside Albion
1st Game report Tadcaster’s line up for the first game was Lewis in goal, Emily, Daniel and new boy Josh in defence, Megan and James in midfield, Eden up front. With a couple of regular players missing, Tadcaster were forced to make changes again and not surprisingly the team started nervously. Much of the opening period was played in the Tadcaster half and there were one or two close calls before the York pressure lead to the opening goal. Tadcaster responded brilliantly though and James soon equalised with a good shot from outside the box. Some good running with the ball from Eden relieved the pressure further and another shot from James hit the post. At the other end Lewis made a good save which kept the score 1-1 at the end of the first half. Tadcaster started the second half well with some good possession and James rattled the post again, this time from the penalty spot. That just about summed up the yellow team’s luck and despite having much of the possession, in was the York team that took their two chances to make the final score 3-1 to York Cubs.
2nd Game report All change again for the second game with Megan in goal, Emily and Daniel defence, Josh and James in midfield, Eden and Lewis up front. Tadcaster tried their best again but were unlucky to come up against a team with one player who scored all five goals. On the positive side, Lewis played very well and Josh seemed to enjoy his first game. Eden scored his first goal for Tadcaster - running with the ball from half way, holding off a last gasp tackle before finding the corner of the net. James also got a deserved goal with a good run down the right wing followed by a fierce shot into the net. Final score 5-2 to York Cubs.
Man of the Match: James – scored two goals, helped in defence and never stopped running. Well done James !
