1st Game report
The usual team lined up this week to take on York RI, Tom and Austin switched positions. Austin’s first goal came as a result of some good build up play, the whole team passing the ball between them and working forwards.
York RI responded when a lapse in Tadcaster defence secured them their only goal of the game. York RI lifted their heads and put some pressure on Tadcaster, forcing Sam to make a couple of good saves. Jack made some good tackles with Owen in defence; between them they kept pushing the ball back up to midfield. Tadcaster pressed on and it was only a matter of time before Austin smacked home his second from the left wing, Cavan skidded to the goal line just to make sure it went in.
A free kick to Tadcaster resulted in Cavan’s first goal of the day and Austin’s fancy footwork with an overhead volley gave him his second. 1- 4 to Tadcaster
2nd Game
Scott and Danny joined the second match today, with the remaining players as rolling subs.
Owen had unstoppable energy in the second game, thoroughly enjoying his midfield position. Tom’s goal caught the goal keeper off guard as the ball bounced badly and flipped over his head in a ‘Paul Robinson’ moment. A handball by York RI gave Tadcaster a free kick just outside the area, Cavan powered the ball over the heads of the defending wall and into the back of the net.
But York RI had the upper hand in this game and won 3 - 2
